'Check in' most beautiful self-driving tour routes in Suzhou

The "Travel in the Countryside, Journey on the Road" Huantaihu Road Suzhou Section Self-driving Tour event started yesterday, attracting 100 self-driving travel enthusiasts to drive along the route and appreciate stunning views of Taihu Lake blending road and scenery. 
The Ministry of Transport's news office recently released the shortlist for China's most beautiful self-driving tour routes. The Suzhou section of Huantaihu Road has made the cut to Top 20, the only one in Jiangsu province to be included.

In the morning, self-driving travel enthusiasts started from Xijing Bay, passed North Taihu Avenue, and reached the China Embroidery Art Museum. Afterwards, they drove on the road around Taihu Lake and Sunwu Road to "check in" spots such as Fruit Pit Carving Village, immersing themselves in the mesmerizing landscape of Taihu Lake. 
"I drive for about 30 minutes with beautiful views around me. The cool breeze is quite relaxing," said Luo Bin, an enthusiast of road trips. He also noted that special lanes marked in different colors on Huantaihu Road have been set up for cyclists, adding that many road signs help travelers, drivers, and cyclists stay safe. 
Covering four cities in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, the Huantaihu Road is the country's first inter-provincial scenic road blending transport and tourism. Of note, the 286-kilometer-long Suzhou section is the longest part of the road. It starts from Xiangcheng District, passes through Suzhou New District and Wuzhong District, and finally ends at Wujiang District, covering 15 towns and sub-districts and 80 administrative villages.

As part of the Suzhou section, the 23-kilometer-long "Taihu Blue" fitness trail links 13 villages and 10 scenic areas (spots) including the national 5A-level scenic spot Taihu Hubin National Wetland Park, national 4A-level Guangfu Scenic Area, Taihu Xintiandi Scenic Area, Yuyang Mountain Scenic Area, and Suzhou Ocean Aquarium, attracting hordes of tourists to experience the unique landscape of Taihu Lake up-close.
