Chengdu Ranks Fourth in Popularity among Foreign Tourists

According to Qunar’s statistics revealed on October 8, 2025, the top 10 most popular Chinese cities among foreign tourists during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Qingdao, Haikou, and Shenyang.

According to comprehensive statistics based on cultural tourism big data from October 1 to 8, Chengdu witnessed a 32% increase in inbound tourist arrivals. The Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan (China), and other countries and regions were among the top sources of tourists.

According to the statistics of Chengdu Immigration Inspection Station from the start of the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday to 16:00 on the afternoon of October 8, the station processed over 143,000 entries and exits, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, and more than 1,041 inbound and outbound flights, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%; the daily average of entries and exits reached over 18,000, while the daily average of inbound and outbound flights exceeded 130. Notably, the station processed 19,000 entries and exits on October 7, the highest single-day volume during the holiday. Additionally, the station recorded over 8,900 foreign arrivals between October 1 and 17:00 on October 7, reflecting year-on-year growth of 57.35%.

Since the beginning of this year, Chengdu Immigration Inspection Station has recorded more than 4.847 million entries and exits and over 36,000 flights, which represent year-on-year increases of 11.5% and 14.2%, respectively. Among these, Chengdu’s aviation port recorded over 540,000 foreign arrivals, an increase of 57.5% compared to the same period last year. The top three source countries of inbound foreign tourists were Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Primary purposes of visits included tourism and sightseeing, meetings and business, and family/friend visits.
