From Belgium to Hainan, attracting investment and promoting business, boosting the free trade port to transform from a blueprint to a metamorphosis

Recently, at Insight(Season III), hosted by the Hainan International Media Center (HIMC), Charlotte, the first foreign government employee at Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City and a Belgian International Investment Manager, shared her deep connection with Hainan. She spoke of how she was inspired by the opportunities of the Hainan Free Trade Port, and how over the past four years, she has actively participated in and witnessed the transformation of Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City from a blueprint to a thriving hub. Today, it is home to 19 universities, more than 13,000 enterprises, and a vibrant community of 50,000 people. Through her journey, Charlotte reflects the Hainan Free Trade Port's growing role as a center of institutional innovation and openness. Her story also highlights the strong emotional ties that international talent is forming with Hainan.
