The Head of Secondary is responsible for providing visionary leadership and effective management of the Secondary School (Grades 6–12 / Key Stages 3–5). The role focuses on ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture, and aligning secondary education with the school’s mission and international educational standards.
Responsibilities:
A. Educational Leadership & Curriculum Development
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the secondary curriculum, ensuring alignment with international standards (e.g., IB, IGCSE, AP, or other relevant frameworks).
Promote innovative teaching practices and the integration of technology to enhance student learning.
Monitor and analyze student academic performance data to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and educational regulations.
B. Staff Management & Professional Development
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate secondary teaching staff.
Foster a collaborative professional learning community and organize ongoing professional development.
Conduct regular observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
C. Student Welfare & Pastoral Care
Oversee the pastoral care system to support students’ social, emotional, and academic well-being.
Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.
Manage student discipline and behavior in accordance with school policies.
D. Operational & Administrative Management
Prepare and manage the secondary school budget.
Oversee the secondary school timetable, assessment schedules, and examination processes.
Coordinate major school events, parent-teacher conferences, and student-led conferences.
E. Community Engagement & Communication
Build strong partnerships with parents, including effective communication and involvement in school life.
Represent the secondary school at board meetings, parent associations, and external events.
Collaborate with other school divisions and leadership teams.
