Transformation Academy of Shanghai (TAS) is a non-profit private bilingual school owned by Transformation Education Group. From our foundation in 2015, we have witnessed the development of the school into an institution that now serves more than four hundred students.
We provide a comprehensive bilingual education for Chinese families who want a combination of Chinese and Western pedagogy with a focus on character development. TAS not only strives to improve the academic ability of students, but also pays attention to the growth and character development of students. The mission of TAS is to train servant leaders though high-quality education in a loving environment. In order to effectively promote the mission of TAS, each Homeroom teacher is expected to work closely with their fellow teachers—National and foreign—as well as the leadership of TAS. Homeroom teachers should have a strong teaching background in a Homeroom setting as well as the desire and ability to carry out the following broad and specific responsibilities across the following domains: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Management, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Mirror, support, model, and promote the school’s mission, vision, and core values.
• Establish collaborative relationships with all staff, students, and parents—especially with your National Homeroom co-teacher.
• Regularly engage parents and students in meaningful discussions about student achievement.
• Commit and contribute to the school community—play an active, positive, and supportive role in addressing the needs of the whole child in and out of the classroom.
• Teach the curricula established by the school.
• Select and use school-approved teaching strategies and classroom resources.
• Ensure that personal professional goals are established and completed each year.
• On regular school days, be on duty between 7:40 AM and 4:00 PM
• Be willing to undertake additional duties that may reasonably be assigned or requested by the leadership team.
Qualifications:
Education
○ Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant subject area preferably.
Experience
○ Minimum two years successful teaching experience post-graduation with contactable references; or 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate; or major in Education/Linguistic/Teaching; or teaching license.
Skills
○ Excellent knowledge of the developmental needs of students in the age group you are teaching.
○ Grounded in knowledge about teaching and learning, of the content being taught, and of pedagogical practices.
○ Knowledge of and experience in using a variety of assessments and differentiated learning techniques.
○ Demonstrate knowledge and experience in supporting students’ social and emotional growth inside and outside the classroom, including using non-punitive approaches that ensure the respect and dignity of each student.
○ Demonstrate the ability to be a reflective practitioner and to give and receive feedback.
○ Effectively and proficiently communicate with a diverse community of colleagues, students, and parents in both spoken and written communication.
○ Highly skillful at using technology.
○ Possess strong organizational and time-management skills.
