Shanghai Theater Academy (STA) is a full-time art institution of higher education co-sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. Since its establishment 75 years ago, STA has adhered to a socialist approach to school running, the fundamental task of fostering professionals with excellent character, and the guidelines for “producing talents, works, ideas, and models”. It is striving to be a platform that takes the lead in China and ranks among the best in the world.
There are four STA campuses with distinct functions. The Huashan Campus is the theater arts education center. The Lianhua Campus is the traditional Chinese opera education center. The Hongqiao Campus is the international dance education center. The Changlin Campus is the film, TV and new media education center. Educational units include the Acting Department (including the Musical Theater Center), Directing Department, Dramatic Literature Department, Stage Design Department, College of Chinese Opera, College of Dance, College of Film, College of Creative Studies, and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences Education. Besides, there are two vocational secondary schools affiliated to STA: Shanghai Opera School and Shanghai Dance School. There are two post-doctoral mobile stations, two doctoral programs of first-level discipline, and four master programs of first-level discipline. There are 20 undergraduate majors. Theater and film and TV studies were among the first group under Category I of the Peak Discipline Building Plan in Shanghai, and design and art theory were among the first group under Category I and Category I of the Plateau Discipline Building Plan. In 2019, STA was officially included in a prestigious program of Shanghai for developing first-class universities and disciplines of the world (Double First-Class Initiative).

Basic Requirements

5. A strong sense of service, solidarity and teamwork.
6. In principle, applicants for Teaching and Research Positions (Full-Time) shall have obtained a doctoral degree or associate senior professional positions (titles) or above (see the attached table for details).
7. For applicants with outstanding professional competence, major awards (honors), and certain social influence and industry reputation, qualifications such as educational attainment, degrees, and professional positions (titles) may be appropriately relaxed.
Requirements
1. A bachelor’s degree in musical theater or other majors related to acting and a master’s degree in musical theater.
2. Experience in acting in musical theater and mastery of chorus repertoire for musical theater.
3. Experience in teaching chorus for musical theater in specialized colleges and universities preferred.
4. Members of Communist Party of China preferred.
5. Outstanding English skills preferred.
