Elementary ESL teacher

Responsibilities:

The role of a subject teacher is to ensure high quality subject-related learning experience for assigned groups of students and to provide teaching and learning that aligns with school mission and vision. As a trained specialist， the responsibilities of an subject teacher include but not limited to:

Teaching and learning
1. Teach the assigned subject(s) and ensure a high quality learning in the secondary school.
2. Maintain close communication with other subject teachers, homeroom teachers and participate in related teaching or activities.
3. Document students their learning throughout the learning process.
4. Participate/create/implement/attend subject related after-school or outside of class period activities.
5. Participate or organize learning in curriculum-related tasks or projects, such as graduation projects, field trips or school camps, etc.
6. Organize extra-curricular activities.

Assessment and reporting
7. Utilize formative and summative assessments to
- Inform class instruction and curriculum.
- Plan differentiated learning experience to meet differing needs of students.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to facilitate students further learning.
8. Contribute to students report cards and related reporting practice according to school requirements.

Curriculum
9. Demonstrate a high level of relevant curriculum knowledge.
10. Effectively develop, adapt, implement subject specific curriculum to meet the educational goals of Guangzhou SingChin Academy for assigned students.
11. Actively participate in collaborative planning to develop high-quality units, including transdisciplinary units, interdisciplinary units or module units.
12. Create and record Unit plans and daily lesson plans according to school requirements.

Learning environment
13. Create, design, maintain, and frequently update an active, supporting classroom environment that meets school standards and requirements.
14. Ensure an organized and resourceful learning environment to support active, inquiry learning.

Student affairs
15. Maintain daily attendance records of students for each class period or activity that the teacher is responsible for.
16. Fulfil assigned duties according to school requirements.
17. Actively implement school philosophy of education, teaching practices, student-centered and constructive approaches to classroom management and instruction.
18. Implement school-wide student behavior management policy process.

Teacher learning and development
19. Actively participate in all school mandated training, workshop, and other professional development activities.
20. Continually seek self-improvement and group development in learning and teaching strategies by engaging in trainings, peer observations, discussions etc.

General
21. Be a good role model for students and community by being open-minded, respective and positive in daily communication.
22. Maintain a professional appearance during work hours or school events.
23. Adhere to school regulations and expectations as per the Employee handbook and contract requirements.
24. Participate and prepare for home-school activities, including but not limited to parents conference, parent workshops, student presentations, etc.
25. Participate and prepare for assigned school activities, including but not limited to school celebrations, school open days, school presentation, etc.
26. Maintain an appropriately clean and organized classroom/workspace.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree or above in Education or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
- International school education/teaching experience is preferred.
- Teaching license or qualification (PGCE etc).
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in international or bilingual program.
- Related professional development certifications in related field which includes but not limited to IB Training Certificates.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic technology skills/ computer skills.
