The organizers of the 2025 Shanghai Shopping Festival recently unveiled their program which will run from late April to the end of June — introducing a series of first-time events designed to galvanize the city's retail scene.
A major highlight is the debut of the Golden Years Festival — being held in partnership with International Exhibition of Senior Care, Rehabilitation Medicine and Healthcare, Shanghai 2025.
The festival will offer seniors-focused activities covering food, lifestyle and travel — from healthy local products and themed dining events to displays of seniors-friendly home designs and curated travel packages.
Pet enthusiasts can look forward to their first-ever Shanghai Pet Fest, hosted at the Arch Walk shopping mall in Changning district. It'll feature a world-class pet show, a pet adoption day, themed markets, pet fashion shows and fun activities for pets and their owners.
Meanwhile, Putuo district will host the Along the Creek: Dragon Boat Festival Experience. This will recreate the bustling scenes of the famous 12th century painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival on the banks of Suzhou Creek, with radiant light installations, river cruises and interactive shopping routes.
This year's festival season also includes the 2025 Shanghai Digital Life Festival, focusing on AI-driven retail sales, live-streaming e-commerce, digital tourism and initiatives to boost domestic purchases of high-quality foreign trade goods through online platforms.
