2025 Edition of Home in Chengdu Living Guide officially Released

The Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government has recently completed the revision of the electronic version of the bilingual (Chinese-English) Home in Chengdu Living Guide (hereinafter referred to as the “Guide”) with updated information on the latest policies and practical guides to daily life, the Guide offers detailed services for foreign nationals living in Chengdu, aiming to attract more international residents, help them integrate into local life and encourage them to make contribution to the city in its drive to be “a city of innovation and creativity where people strive hard, and a comfortable and pleasant city that satisfies the needs of all people coming from near and far”

The 2025 edition of the “Guide” was simultaneously released on the special column of “Home in Chengdu” on the official website of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government, the WeChat official account of “Home in Chengdu”, and “Chengdu Discovery”. An auxiliary foldout version of the Guide has been introduced, focusing on seven aspects such as “How to make the most of Chengdu with the 240-hour visa-free transit policy”, “How to register for various commonly used Chinese apps”, “How to make mobile payments using WeChat Pay and Alipay in daily life”, “How to seek medical services in hospitals in Chengdu”, and “How to apply for a work permit to come to China”. The foldout also provides QR codes for external link information, which helps foreign nationals overcome the “information gap” and enables them to “scan the code to get answers timely”.

1. Introduction to the 2025 Chengdu World Games; list of travel agencies in Chengdu that receive foreign tourists; list of hotels and homestays in Chengdu that accommodate foreigners; updated information on the sculptures of Chengdu's international sister cities, etc. Updates can be obtained by scanning the QR code;

2. Information on restaurants recommended by consuls general in 2024 and updated list of restaurants in the “Chengdu Michelin Guide”, which offer new choices for gourmet tours around Chengdu;

3. More inclusive information about scenic spots, museums, art galleries and performance venues, providing a resourceful guide for tourists to Chengdu.

1. Updated comprehensive information on the “Plan on Key Projects in Chengdu 2024” and the Q&A on investment and entrepreneurship; comprehensive knowledge about the issues related to investment and starting a business in Chengdu, such as investment policies, scientific and technological innovation carriers, and the filing and registration of foreign-invested enterprises.

2. Detailed guide to the “Work Permit for Foreigners”, available by scanning the QR code.


Comfortable Life in Chengdu

1. Added information on issues such as the off-line handling service of Chengdu Medical Security, guide to medical services of the International Medical Service Department of Chengdu First People’s Hospital, guide to online business handling of the “Traffic Management 12123” APP, and the list of universities in Chengdu included in the “Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024”. Information is available by scanning the QR code.


2. A step-by-step guide on “How to register for commonly used Chinese apps?”, with Meituan as an example, detailing the basic process of registering apps with a foreign passport, and attach the QR codes for downloading commonly used Chinese apps such as Xiaohongshu (Rednote), Dianping, Douyin (Tiktok China), Didi Chuxing, and Baidu Maps, making daily life more convenient for foreign nationals in Chengdu.
