Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area is in the eastern part of Wuhan with a total area of 82 square kilometers. The East Lake is the largest inner city lake in China, covering an area of 33 square kilometers. In 1982, the East Lake Scenic Area was approved by the State Council to be included in the list of the first National Key Scenic Areas. In 2000, it was selected by the National Tourism Administration as one of the first National AAAA Level Tourist Attractions.
It can be divided into five scenic spots. Currently, Tingtao (listening to the waves) Pavillion, the Moshan (traditional Chinese grinder-shaped) Hill, Chuidi (playing banboo flute) Hill and Luoyan (wild geese landing) Island scenic spots are open to the public with over 100 sceneries.
