Application of Foreign Nationals for Extension and Renewal of F (exchanges, visits, study tours, etc.)Visa

Eligible Applicants

Foreign nationals who come to Wuhan for exchanges visits, study tours, etc.

Application Materials
(I) Valid passport or other international travel documents, including copies of the personal information page, the valid visa page, and the visa page with the latest entry stamp.
(II) Registration Form of Residence for Visitors From Overseas.
(III) Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application Form completed in black ink with a recent 2-inch bareheaded, full-face photo on a white background.
(IV) Proof of lawful registration of the organization in Wuhan that sent the invitation (no paper materials required, as the police will verify it online).
(V) The original official letter in Chinese to the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau from the organization that sent the invitation. The letter should include 1. Basic information about the applicant and the organization that sent the invitation; 2. Reason for application: including the details of activities in China, the duration of stay in China, and entry-exit arrangements; 3. Guarantee of living expenses during the stay in China and compliance with Chinese laws; 4. Date of leter issuance and the official seal of the letter provider.
(VI) Other application materials required by the exitand entry administration authority based on the situation.
Note: All application materials shall be submitted in their original version for verification along with A4 copies.

Duration of Extended / Renewed Visa
(I) Those who apply for an extension of F visa may apply for an extension ofno more than 180 days.
(II) Those who apply for renewal of F visa (including those holding F visa who apply for additional entries) may apply for a zero/single/double/multiple-entry visa valid for up to 1 year with a stay duration of no more than 180 days. For foreign experts and scholars invited by China's key universities, research institutions, and well-known enterprises, as well as high-level management and tech professionals recognized by the talent management departments or sci-tech innovation departments of city-level or higher governments, foreign team members and research assistants recommended by foreign nationals with significant contributions or with skills specially needed in China, or other high-caliber foreign professionals recognized by the talent authorities,a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 5 years with a stay duration of up to 180 days can be issued upon presenting invitation/recommendation letters and supporting documents from organizations that sent invitations, relevant authorities, employers, or individuals.
(III) For foreign nationals of Chinese origin, a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 5 years with a stay duration of up to 180 days can be issued upon presenting supporting documents for exchanges,visits, or study tours in China, etc. and identification documents of foreign nationals of Chinese origin. The cumulative duration of stay on the renewed visa shall not exceed 1 year from the last entry into China.

Important Notes
(I) Applicants are required to be interviewed. Those who are under the age of 16, over the age of 60, or suffer mobility issues due to illness or other reasons, or have a good record of previousstay/residence in China may have others file an application on their behalf. However, if the exit ancentry administration authority requires an interview, the applicant must attend it in person.
(II) The extension of visa is valid for the latest entryonly and does not affect the number of entries and validlity period of the original visa. The cumulative extended period of stay shall not exceed the duration of stay specified in the original visa. Uponvisa renewal, the original visa becomes invalid.
(III) Supporting documents provided by foreign nationals in languages other than Chinese for applying for visa/stay permit/residence permit must be accompanied by a Chinese translation from aqualified translation company in China
(IV) First-time applicants in China under the age of18 who are foreign nationals of Chinese origin or overseas Chinese are also required to submit their birth certificate, parents' passports, and proof of residence abroad.
(V) Individuals who have not canceled their Chinese household registration must do so before filling an application.

This notification shall be interpreted by the Exiand Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau.
