Editor's Note: Recently, the "China in the Eyes of Sinologists: A Cultural Tour in Xinjiang" delegation traveled through Kashi, Urumqi, Ili and beyond in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Its members, from across the globe, boast deep familiarity with Chinese culture—many even count as "old China hands." What caught their eye in Xinjiang? What stayed with them? Starting today, InXinjiang presents a special series, Insights from Sinologists, to bring their journey to life.
Elham Sadat Mirzania, writer, translator, and teacher in the Chinese Language Department at Toronto Metropolitan University, said this is her second visit to Xinjiang. She said that great changes have taken place in both tourism development and people's lives, and people in Xinjiang were very kind and hospitable, making them enjoy every moment there.
At present, she is translating Wang Meng's Zhe Bian Feng Jing (Unique Landscape). Readers will soon have the opportunity to read this work in Persian. She hopes that more people can get the chance to come to Xinjiang, see this particularly beautiful land and the enthusiastic people, and enjoy the delicious food and touching music here.
