As the Spring Festival approaches, the 2026 Changsha Spring Festival Lantern Fair will be held in Jinggang Ancient Town from February 6 to March 8. The lantern fair, themed "a light and shadow scroll of ancient Changsha," will feature "floating floral lantern boats + NPC processional performances," Hunan folk customs and intangible cultural heritage experiences, immersive performances, and interactive activities. The event will blend the ancient town's historical heritage with the art of light.

The domestically pioneering "floating floral lantern boats + NPC processional performances" feature over a dozen themed floral vessels illuminating the Lujiang Waterway, creating a flowing tapestry of light and shadow. Visitors will embark on nighttime boat tours to admire themed lantern displays such as "A Thousand Sails at Jinggang Port" and "Magnificent Hunan Vessels." They will experience the poetic scenery of "boats gliding through light, people drifting through paintings."
During the lantern fair, Jinggang Ancient Town will showcase traditional Spring Festival customs of Changsha. Visitors can witness the solemn "Jinggang Ceremony" by day and enjoy immersive performances like "Wonder Night of 1980s" and "Wedding Ceremony" by night, immersing themselves in the rich drama culture and folk traditions. Additionally, the grand Aoyu fish lantern parade and interactive blessings from the Five Gods of Fortune, Luck, Longevity, Happiness, and Wealth will recreate the traditional spectacle of "a night of dragon and fish dances," bringing auspiciousness and joy to the public.

A special New Year's goods market area and intangible cultural heritage workshops have been set up for family visitors. Visitors can savor authentic Changsha snacks and try their hand at traditional crafts like sugar painting, window paper-cutting, and writing Chinese character "Fu" (福). Numerous NPCs dressed in period costumes will interact spontaneously with visitors on the streets—reciting poetry, hawking wares, and bestowing blessings. This creates an immersive Spring Festival cultural tourism space that offers sights to see, activities to enjoy, and experiences to try.
Why not step into Jinggang Ancient Town starting February 6? Amidst dazzling lights and traditional Hunan New Year customs, let's experience an authentic, warm, and flavorful Changsha Spring Festival feast.
