Hospital Introduction

The First Hospital of Hebei Medical University is a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital with the main features of diagnosis and treatment of brain and cardiovascular diseases, integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, emergency treatment, preventive health care, and health management. In June 2021, it was approved as the second batch of pilot construction projects for national regional medical centers - Hebei Hospital of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University.

From 2021 to this year, for three consecutive years, Liu Guozhong, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, Sun Chunlan, a member of the 19th Politburo of the Central Committee and former Vice Premier of the State Council, visited the hospital for research. The hospital was founded on June 26, 1971, and currently covers an area of 100 acres with a building area of 240000 square meters. It has 2232 beds and two operating areas. There are 2650 hospital employees, including 476 with senior medical titles, 36 doctoral supervisors, and 188 master's supervisors. There are 7 experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council, 5 outstanding experts under provincial management, 7 young and middle-aged experts who have made outstanding contributions to the province, 8 experts with special allowances from the Hebei Provincial Government, and 37 experts in the"3-3 Talent Project" of the province. The hospital has high-end medical equipment such as radioknives, magnetoencephalography, PET/CT, 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging, digital subtraction angiography machines, and has established a first-class minimally invasive surgery training center in China.
The hospital has been approved with 7 national level clinical key specialties (3 construction specialties: oncology surgery, neurology, mental health department, and 4 creation specialties: neurosurgery, general surgery, cardiovascular medicine, and pediatrics), 14 provincial-level clinical key specialties, 2 provincial-level traditional Chinese medicine key specialties in non traditional Chinese medicine institutions, and 5 provincial-level medical key disciplines. The hospital carries out multiple advanced domestic and provincial technologies, such11 as hemispherectomy at the tip of the surgical pyramid, intraoperative arousal, stereotactic surgical treatment of brainstem hemorrhage, neurointerventional treatment of cerebral smog syndrome, single condylar replacement, diagnosis and treatment of intestinal microbiota, endovascular reconstruction surgery for aortic arch lesions, and endovascular reconstruction surgery for visceral branches of the abdominal aorta. The hospital currently has 12 national level standardized training bases for resident physicians and undertakes 26 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The hospital is affiliated with the Hebei Institute of Mental Health, the Mental Health Center of Hebei Medical University, and the Congenital Heart Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Hebei Medical University. It is a stroke screening and prevention base of the National Health Commission, a national stem cell clinical research institution, a cardiovascular intervention diagnosis and treatment training base, a national drug clinical trial institution, and a national health management demonstration base.
The hospital has always kept in mind the importance of the country, assumed social responsibility with a positive attitude, fought against the epidemic, treated patients, and praised the reputation of the First Hospital of Medical University. At the beginning of 2021, during the epidemic, the hospital established a nucleic acid collection team and dispatched more than 3000 medical personnel to undertake nucleic acid collection tasks in12 parts of Gaocheng District, Zhao County, and Jinzhou in Shijiazhuang City. They completed five rounds of nucleic acid collection for all staff in Yuhua District on time, in high quantity and to high standards, and completed nucleic acid testing and measurement for more than 8.5 million people, making an important contribution to the fight against theepidemic. In particular, in 2022, in the tough stage of epidemic treatment, the hospital party committee took the situation into consideration, creatively and uniformly allocated the resources of the whole hospital to treat patients with COVID-19, and proposed "giving priority to emergency work, treatment of critically ill patients, and medical work of key departments".
