Energy conservation and environmental protection

The energy conservation and environmental protection industrial cluster is one of Wuxi's advantageous ones, now home to over 2,000 key enterprises (as of April 2024), with an annual output value nearing 150 billion yuan ($21.04 billion). The scale of energy-saving and environmental protection equipment manufacturing ranks among the top nationally, holding a 40 percent share of the national market in the water pollution treatment sector.

As of April 2024, the energy conservation and environmental protection sector in Wuxi has gathered over 1,000 high-level talents and established industry-university-research cooperation mechanisms with more than 300 domestic and international universities and research institutions, cumulatively setting up 132 various R&D platforms.

Wuxi plans to vigorously develop industrial chains related to environmental protection, including water pollution prevention and control, air pollution prevention and control, solid waste pollution prevention and control, and energy-saving equipment.

It will promote the formation of a diversified development pattern with industrial agglomeration in areas like Yixing, Xinwu, Jiangyin, and Xishan, and enhanced collaboration in areas like Huishan, Binhu, and the Wuxi Economic Development District. The goal is to build Wuxi into a globally competitive demonstration zone for the entire water treatment industrial chain, the most influential national base for intelligent manufacturing in energy conservation and environmental protection, and a national highland for technological innovation and R&D in energy conservation and environmental protection.
