Nanjing Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Day is set to open this September. The event is aimed at helping foreign talents in Nanjing gain a deeper understanding of the city’s cultural soft power and innovation-friendly environment, telling good stories of China, spreading the voice of Nanjing, and fostering cultural identity.

From September 2025 to September 2026.

PARTICIPANTS

Foreign experts in Nanjing, leading talents (foreign nationals) at municipal level or above and their family members, outstanding representatives of international university students, and representatives from employing organizations.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Step into the Former Residence of Gan Xi and savor the essence of the ancient city.
  • Meet the inheritors of tradition face-to-face and witness their masterful craft.
  • A blend of exhibition and hands-on experience allows you to discover the essence of a millennium of intangible cultural heritage through the art of your own hands, feel the grace of a folding Jinling fan, the delicate touch of a velvet flower (Ronghua), and the intricate beauty of paper-cutting. The inclusive and open spirit of Nanjing is right at your fingertips.

Event: Enjoy a live performance of Nanjing Baiju, a traditional local opera. Learn some Nanjing dialect and local customs.

Date: November 2025

Event: Watch and learn the Diabolo skills. Experience the traditional craft of woodblock carving and rubbing.

Date: January 2026
Event: Discover the history and craftsmanship of Qinhuai Lantern Art, and learn to craft a Rabbit/Lotus Lantern.

Date: April 2026
Event: Discover the origins, evolution, and characteristics of traditional Chinese kites. Learn to craft a kite.

Date: June 2026
Event: Learn Nanjing dough sculpting techniques and craft figurines themed Dragon Boat Festival and Opera Mask.

Date: August 2026
Event: Learn about the intricate techniques of Nanjing Velvet Flower (Ronghua) Art and craft velvet flower brooches or other souvenirs.


We will also be offering a series of mini cultural workshops on other fascinating themes, such as Nanjing Paper-Cutting, Traditional Chinese Opera, and Classical Calligraphy. Stay tuned for upcoming schedules!
