Expressway

Nanjing has a road network of expressway shaped as "belt + radiation", connecting ShanghaiHangzhou, Xuancheng, Wuhu (Ma'anshan), Hefei, Bengbu, Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Nantongand other cities. Nanjing has a total mileage of expressways up to 557 kilometers, and in termsof the density of expressways, Nanjing ranks first in the province and in the forefront of sub-provincial cities in China. Nanjing will make further efforts to develop a network pattern of "twobelts, two horizontal expressways and fourteen radial expressways" with a planned mileageof 665 kilometers. The "two belts" include belt freeway and metropolitan ring expressway;"two horizontal expressways" include Changzhou-Ma'anshan Expressway and Liyang-WuhuExpressway; "fourteen radial expressways" include 14 expressways such as Shanghai-NanjingExpressway, Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway, Nanjing-Xuancheng Expressway, Nanjing-Ma'anshan Expressway, Nanjing-Hefei Expressway, Nanjing-Yancheng Expressway and NanjingNantong Expressway. All are conducive to grounding the dual highways between Shanghaiand Nanjing, Nanjing and Hangzhou, Nanjing and Hefei in Yangtze River Delta, and the directexpressways in districts and cities.
