Among the many torchbearers in Guangzhou, Denis Bastieri stood out remarkably. As a double-appointed professor at both the University of Padua in Italy and Guangzhou University, he was the only foreign torchbearer at this station. Bastieri could hardly contain his excitement, admitting that being selected as a torchbearer filled him with immense pride.
