Recently, the Panda Bookshop (Panda Base Store), jointly presented by Xinhua Winshare and Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, was launched on the first floor of the Panda Tower at the base.![]()

A relevant official of Xinhua Winshare introduced that the bookshop serves not only as a place to buy books but also as a “panda home”, where visitors can sit down, take a break, and bring home a piece of memory about Chengdu.

The bookshop adopts natural wood tones, green, and beige as its primary palette, which is distinct from the typical black-and-white panda-themed design. Warm wooden textures, layered greenery, and tailored hand-drawn panoramas by illustrators immerse visitors in a relaxing atmosphere at the moment they enter the bookshop.

At present, the bookshop features a curated selection of approximately 2,000 books, which primarily focus on giant panda science education, photography, and picture books with a broader reach into animal conservation and ecology. Even more engaging is its collection of over 2,200 panda-themed cultural and creative products. Featured zones, such as the Celebrity Panda Zone and the Fridge Magnet Museum, have been set up in the shop, while products are categorized by visitor preferences for easy browsing of various panda-themed items.
Meanwhile, the bookshop has launched the month-long Panda Carnival, along with a variety of online and offline activities, such as the Citywide Treasure Hunt and the Gifts with Purchase. The event will run through May 31.
New Updates Coming to
Eastern Suburb Memory’s
North 2nd Alley Next Month
The renovation project of the North 2nd Alley at the Eastern Suburb Memory is currently under intensive construction and is expected to introduce the upgraded alley to the public in early June. Following the principle of “One Store for Each City”, the new alley will bring together cultural and creative products, local cuisine, and souvenirs from across Sichuan to its immersive space, offering visitors a taste of Sichuan’s diverse appeal in one destination.
The Daxi Teahouse, located in the alley, is set to be the most distinctive highlight of the North 2nd Alley. According to the design plan, the teahouse will showcase a fusion of “40% industrial chic, 30% western Sichuan charm, and 30% Shanghai-style grace” in the future.
“Once the teahouse is operational, we will stage Sichuan Opera and other distinctive performances,” a staff member shared. “Visitors will be able to enjoy satisfying sips of tea in the teahouse while experiencing the unique Sichuan culture up-close.”
