Lanterns get four completely different treatments at Grand Lisboa Palace. Four Macao artists pair papercutting with chess geometry, indigo-dyed motifs with contemporary print, cloisonné with Costa Rican festival imagery, and ancient music with responsive sensors. The installations travel from the East Lobby and shopping mall into Jardim Secreto, giving the Mid-Autumn tradition several distinctly contemporary visual languages. On September 26, an artist-led paper-cut lantern workshop takes the experience from looking to making.
