(1) Next-Generation Displays
Development Foundation
Xiamen has emerged as a leading center for the flat panel display industry, boasting rapid growth and a strategic focus on innovation. The city has attracted significant investment in advanced production lines, including 5.5-generation and 6th-generation Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon (LTPS) lines, a 6th-generation flexible Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode (AMOLED) line, and an 8.6-generation display panel production line. This comprehensive ecosystem encompasses a full range of display technologies, from amorphous silicon (a-Si) and LTPS to AMOLED and Micro-LED. Designated as China’s sole pilot city for the national optoelectronic display industry cluster and home to the world’s largest research, development, and production base for touch screen modules, Xiamen holds a prominent position in the global display landscape. Ranked 6th among China’s top ten cities for next-generation display industry competitiveness, Xiamen has attracted industry giants such as Tianma Microelectronics, Corning, NEG, TPK, AUO, TPV Display, and Qiangli. This robust ecosystem spans the entire value chain, from glass substrates and panels to modules, Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs), and finished devices. Currently, Xiamen is prioritizing upstream innovation driven by downstream demand, focusing on developing key components like optical films and polarizers. The city is also committed to advancing Micro-LED technology and other next-generation display technologies, aiming to develop world-class products in flexible displays, curved displays, and touch screens. Xiamen’s ultimate goal is to establish a domestically leading and internationally renowned next-generation flat panel display industry. The Xiamen Torch High-Tech Zone’s electronic information (optoelectronic display) industry has repeatedly received national recognition as a “five-star” new industrialization industry demonstration base.
