Xiamen Marathon
Established in 2003, the Xiamen Marathon has rapidly ascended to become one of China’s most prestigious and internationally acclaimed marathon events. Its commitment to excellence has earned it consistent recognition, including 13 consecutive years as a World Athletics “Gold Label Road Races” event, and five consecutive years with the coveted “Platinum Label Road Races” designation. In a landmark achievement, the Xiamen Marathon became the first marathon in Asia to receive the AIMS “Green Award” in 2019, highlighting its dedication to environmental sustainability. Further demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility, the marathon established China’s first marathon-specific public welfare foundation in 2020, implementing a distinctive “red, green, and blue” three-color public welfare system. Its ongoing contributions to the sport were acknowledged with the World Athletics “Global Special Contribution Award” in 2023 and recognition as a “Representative Sport for Sustainable Development” in 2024.
