Zigui County in central China’s Hubei is one of famous navel orange production areas in China. The favorable environment, climate and soil here make the county an ideal place for cultivation of navel oranges. At present, Zigui County has 140,000 farmers planting 220,000 mu of quality navel oranges, with an annual production of 210,000 tons.
Navel oranges are characterized by the growth of a second fruit at the apex, which protrudes slightly and resembles a human navel. Their widespread distribution and long growing season have made navel oranges very popular.
