City in full bloom as Bougainvillea show opens Friday

The 2025 Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show will kick off tomorrow, promising a blaze of color for the city this autumn. Running through Nov. 21, the show is being held alongside the 15th National Games to welcome visitors and infuse the season with vibrant energy.

Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District is serving as the show's main venue and Bao’an Bougainvillea Valley Park as the subvenue. This year, for the first time, the show has extended its footprint beyond the city's parks, presenting themed floral installations along Shennan Boulevard.

The main venue's five zones, along with eight themed events, feature nearly 320 bougainvillea varieties and 20 unique scenic spots, with more than 200,000 square meters of exhibition area.

A wide array of bougainvillea varieties is on display in Yuxiu Garden.

This year's festival introduces the new Zimo Garden, a 7,000- square-meter bougainvillea haven located by the lake on the eastern side of Lianhua Hill Park.

In the 18,500- square-meter Yuxiu Garden located at the park's west gate, visitors can explore nearly 10,000 bougainvillea specimens, from intricate bonsai to unique potted varieties. Its central exhibition hall features over 90 new types of bougainvillea, including five that are making their debut.

For a more interactive experience, head to the Market in Urban Blossoms on the lawn at the south entrance. This sprawling 18,000- square-meter area features large booths from four top-tier flower companies, inviting you to explore floral displays and lifestyle exhibits.

The festival also features a full schedule of events. The third annual Park Coffee Festival, located near the south gate, brings together over 100 brands, including 10 international names, 40 renowned roasters from across China, and over 50 local favorites.

Right next door, a park-themed cultural and creative arts festival is showcasing more than 900 unique products. Meanwhile, the Guan Shanyue Art Museum is hosting a special exhibition of over 60 bougainvillea-themed artworks, including traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, and sculptures.

Notice:

All parking lots at Lianhua Hill Park will be closed to visitors during the show (Nov. 7–21), according to the city’s urban management authority. Visitors are advised to take public transportation.
