Nanshan tour gives intl. youth memorable glimpses of Shenzhen

More than 40 Chinese and foreign students joined an international urban study tour in Nanshan District on Sept. 19, gaining memorable glimpses of Shenzhen.The study tour was organized under the “Nanshan International Urban Exploration” series. The participants explored Nanshan’s innovation ecosystem, experienced Shenzhen’s openness, and witnessed the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The specially designed route connected the innovative momentum of the Harmony ecosystem, the GBA’s talent hub and some of the world’s latest innovations. The visitors gained a close-up understanding of Nanshan’s technological vitality, talent base and international character.The event was an important part of Nanshan’s international urban civilization initiative launched this year. An earlier activity, “Tracing Nanshan, Inheriting Culture,” took Chinese and foreign participants on a journey through the district’s past and introduced them to its historical heritage. This latest event focused on Nanshan’s future and its technological development, showing how the city is creating opportunities for young people from around the world.

At the Harmony Ecosystem Innovation Center Experience Hall, participants moved through 15 immersive experience zones to see how the Harmony ecosystem’s technological capabilities are transformed into tangible, interactive applications across industries. Opened in August 2025, the venue is the largest Harmony ecosystem exhibition platform in China, with a wide range of scenarios and highly interactive displays.Many international students stopped to try the exhibits, repeatedly exclaiming, “Amazing.”Julia, an international resident who has lived in Nanshan for several years, said the experience hall had left a deep impression on her. “The technology and equipment here will have a profound impact on our future,” she said.

The group then headed to Shenzhen Talent Park, which embodies Shenzhen’s message of “cherishing talent and welcoming you to Shenzhen” in its landscape and public spaces.They toured the park by electric shuttle and took in the view from Xingguang Bridge, where the skyline of Nanshan’s central business district stretches toward the shimmering waters of Shenzhen Bay. They visited a drone delivery station and a robotic coffee shop nearby, which offered them another glimpse of the era of intelligent services. Some students said the visit gave them more concrete meaning to the word “talent.”

The final stop was INNO100 Global Innovation Flagship Store at Shenzhen Bay Culture Plaza. The store is a technology retail space designed around the principles of making products “tangible, experiential and co-creative.”Several cutting-edge products attracted particular attention from both Chinese and international visitors. They included the Hypershell X Ultra S, the world’s best-selling consumer-grade exoskeleton device; Anker’s mobile cinema, which was being exhibited and sold in China for the first time; and what was described as the world’s first AI-powered cargo-carrying robotic dog. Visitors queued up to try the products for themselves.The store manager said the shop carries products from more than 100 brands, including unusual innovations that are not easily found elsewhere. The selection is also continuously updated and upgraded, he said.
