Application of Foreign Nationals for Residence Permit for Private Affairs and lts Extension/Renewal

Hubei Wuhan  

Eligible Applicants

(I)Spouses,parents, children under 18, and parents-in-law of foreign nationals residing long-term in Wuhan for work, study,or other purposes.

(II)Foreign nationals of Chinese origin over 60 years old who have purchased property in Wuhan.

(III)High-caliber foreign professionals and foreign experts whose skills are urgently needed in China.

(IV)Foreign nationals in Wuhan for medical treatment,companionship/care-giving,litigation,arbitration,or other private affairs.
(V)Foreign infants born in China who need to reside in Wuhan.


Application Materials
(I)Valid passport or other international travel documents, including copies of the personal information page, the valid visa page, and the visa page with the latest entry stamp.
(II)Registration Form of Residence for Visitors From Overseas.
(III)Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application Form completed in black ink with a recent 2-inch bareheaded, full-face photo on a white background.
(IV)For foreign nationals applying for family visits, the following are required: 1.The valid passport and residence permit of the person visited; 2. A letter of guarantee from the person visited;3. Proof of kinship (this can be waived for those entering China on an S1 visa who applies for renewal of the residence permit or for extension or renewal of the residence permit for visiting the relatives that are not in-laws).4. An official letter to the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau from the school or employer of the person visited,including:(1)Basic information about the applicant and the person visited:(2)An explanation of the relationship between the applicant and the person visited and the duration of the residence permit requested for the applicant.
(V)For foreign nationals of Chinese origin who have purchased property, the following are required: 1.Proof of property ownership in the applicant's name or a notarized house purchase contract;2. Proof of income sources(not less than the subsistence allowance standard of Wuhan);3. Materials proving the applicant's status as a foreign national of Chinese origin.
(VI)For high-caliber foreign professionals and foreign experts whose skills are urgently needed in China, the following are required: the invitation letter from the employer documentation issued by the relevant work permit authority;t alent verification or recommendation letter from the talent management authority or an individual.
(VII) For foreian nationals in Wuhan for medical treatment, companionship/care-giving, litigation, arbitration, or other private affairs, relevant proof from medical institutions courts, arbitration institution, or other relevant departments is required.
(VII) For foreign infants born in China who need to reside in Wuhan, the following are required: 1.Birth certificate; 2.Passports or other international travel documents and residence permits of the foreign parents; 3. A letter of guarantee; 4. An official letter in Chinese from one parent's school or employer to the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau, including:(1)Basic information about the applicant and the person visited;(2)An explanation of the relationship between the applicant and the person visited and the duration of the residence permit requested for the applicant.
(IX)Health Certificate
(X)Other application materials required by the exit and entry administration authority based on the situation.
Note:All application materials shall be submitted in their original version for verification along with A4 copies.

Duration of Residence Permit
(I)Those who visit their family in China may apply for a residence permit with the same duration as the stay period of the person visited, with a minimum period of 180 days.
(II)Foreign nationals of Chinese origin who have purchased property may apply for a residence permit with avalidity period ranging from a minimum of 180 days to a maximum of 5 years.
(III)High-caliber foreign professionals and foreign experts whose skills are urgently needed in China may apply for a residence permit for private affairs that is validfor up to 5 years.
(IV)Foreign nationals in Wuhan for medical treatment, companionship/care-giving, litigation, arbitration, or other private affairs may apply for a residence permit for private affairs that is valid for up to 1 year.
(V)For foreign infants born in China who need to reside in Wuhan, a residence permit with the validity period corresponding to that of their parents' residence permits can be requested.


Important Notes
(I)Applicants are required to be interviewed. Those who are under the age of 16, over the age of 60, or suffer mobility issues due to illness or other reasons, or have a good record of previous stay/residence in China may have others file an application on their behalf. However, if the exit and entry administration authority requires an interview, the applicant must attend it in person.
(II)Supporting documents provided by foreign nationals in languages other than Chinese for applying for visa/stay permit/residence permit must be accompanied by a Chinese translation from a qualified translation company in China.
(III) First-time applicants in China under the age of 18 who are foreign nationals of Chinese origin or overseas Chinese are also required to submit their birth certificate, parents' passports, and proof of residence abroad.
(lV)Individuals who have not canceled their Chinese household registration must do so before filing an application.


This notification shall be interpreted by the Exitand Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau.
