Karamay：How to turn a desert into a paradise

When I first visited Karamay, in the north of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, I was very surprised at how much the people’s work could benefit the environment and living conditions. The entire Karamay area was man-made. Water was transported for hundreds of kilometers. They created a beautiful river and farmland. It is unbelievable how the Chinese people can transform a desert into a green, wonderful paradise.

Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark：A geological landscape full of history

Located in Guangdong Province, the Danxiashan Park is a place where you can experience an amazing blend of landscape, history, and geology, not to mention the beautiful poems inscribed on the rocks. For non-Chinese people, it is a unique place to enjoy nature in all its forms. As a geologist, I believe this place is blessed, as it is also a sanctuary for plants and animals. It was recognized as a UNESCO Geopark in 2015.

Yinshuidong National Geological Park： China’s beauty inside and out

Everyone should visit this marvelous site. Like in Jules Verne’s dreams, it is a journey to the center of the Earth. Located in Hubei Province, Yinshuidong National Geological Park is renowned for its extensive cave system, which is over five kilometers long and features unique stalactites and stalagmites, as well as an underground river. Visitors can explore the caves on foot, by boat, and by trolley train. As a geologist, I was impressed by how much care had gone into the illumination and safety of the cave. You can’t even see the wires along the stonework！
