The past five years in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province, have been marked by the comprehensive deepening of reform and opening-up, while advancing high-quality development in all respects. During this period, the city has played an increasingly important role in the country's broader opening-up landscape.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the five sessions of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade attracted over 350,000 business guests from 172 countries, regions, and 35 international organizations, facilitating nearly 3,500 cooperation projects.
Xiamen has vigorously promoted the integrated development of ports, shipping, and trade under the Silk Road Maritime, building it into a comprehensive logistics service brand that provides high-quality maritime services for the Belt and Road Initiative. The Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum has been held in the city for seven consecutive years.
A total of 148 shipping routes have been designated as Silk Road Maritime routes, connecting 150 ports across 48 countries and regions, with an alliance membership of 367 entities.
As China's largest third-party aviation maintenance service base, Xiamen handled 983 inbound aircraft for maintenance during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, generating 60.8 billion yuan ($8.64 billion) in industry revenue as of November 2025.
Xiamen Port's container throughput has exceeded 10 million TEUs for eight consecutive years, ranking 7th in China and 14th globally. Its average ship turnaround time in port and berth time rank 2nd and 3rd globally, respectively.
