Chengdu East Railway Station Now Offers Pet Consignment Service

To better meet the needs of passengers traveling with pets, China’s railway authorities has expanded the high-speed rail pet consignment pilot program since June 20. The program covers 25 railway stations on eight selected high-speed railways including the Beijing-Shanghai, the Beijing - Guangzhou, the Beijing - Harbin and the Shanghai - Kunming lines, with services available on 38 high-speed train services.

Chengdu East Railway Station has now been added to the list of stations providing pet consignment services. Passengers can consign one healthy, family - domesticated cat or dog pet per trip, with weight not exceeding 15 kilograms and shoulder height no more than 40 centimeters, to be transported on the same train.

Reservation

The expansion of the trial service continues to follow the policy of “pets and owners departing and arriving on the same train” reservation procedures , service items and price standards remain unchanged. Inquiries on the corresponding train numbers are accepted through the “Pet Consignment” on the Railway 12306 Railway app, while passengers can book tickets and make an online reservation for the pet consignment on the same train.

To complete the reservation, passengers are required to fill the information of the consigner and consignee, as well as the basic information of the pet (including species, breed, nickname, age, weight, shoulder height, etc.) and upload a recent photo of the pet. Once submitted, the application will be reviewed and confirmed upon approval.
Note
Online reservation must be made at least 2 days in advance and is only open to passengers who have purchased the tickets for the designated pet-friend train on the same route and travel date, the identity information of the passenger and the consigner must be the same.
The staff will review the information of the submitted orders within 2 hours and the send the result of the review to consigners by text message. The review hours are 08:00 to 20:00, and orders submitted after 20:00 will be reviewed before 08:30 the next day.

Consignment Procedures

After the reservation is accepted, passengers are required to bring their pet, the valid ID used for ticket pruchase and the Certificate of Animal Quarantine to the China Railway Express service counter at the departure station 2 to 6 hours before the train’s departure to complete the consignment procedures.

Advice

Clients are advised to consult local quarantine institutions in advance to ensure that the handling of the procedures.

Pet Pickup

Passengers will receive text messages or phone call after arrival at the station.
