Application of Foreign Nationals for Extension and Renewal of R (high caliber) Visa

Eligible Applicants
High-caliber foreign professionals and foreign experts whose skills are urgently needed in China.

Application Materials
(I) Valid passport or other international travel documents, including copies of the personal information page, the valid visa page, and the visa page with the latest entry stamp
(I) Registration Form of Residence for Visitors From Overseas.
(III) Visa/Stay Pemit/Residence Permit Application Form completed in black ink with a recent 2-inch bareheaded, full-face photoon a white background.
(IV) Proof of lawful registration of the organization inuhan that sent the invitation (no paper materialsrequired, as the police will verify it online).
(V) Official letter in Chinese to the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau from the organization that sent the invitation. The letter should include: 1. Basic informationabout the applicant and the organization that sentthe invitation; 2. Reason for application: including the details of activities in China, the duration ofstay in China, and entry-exit arrangements; 3.Guarantee of living expenses during the stay in China and compliance with Chinese laws.
(VI) Those who enter China on a non-R visa are also required to submit supporting documents that meet there quirements for high-caliber foreign professionals and foreign experts whose skills are urgently needed in China as determined by the relevantauthorities ofthe Chinese government.
(VII) Other application materials required by the exitand entry administration authority based on the situation.
Note: All application materials shall be submitted in their original version for verification along with A4 copies.

Duration of Extended Visa
(I) Those who apply for an extension of R visa mayapply for an extension of no more than 180 days.
(II) Those who apply for renewal of R visa(including those holding R visa who apply for additionalentnies) may apply for a zero/single/double/multiple -entry visa valid for up to 5 years with a stay of no morethan 180 days. The cumulative duration of stay on therenewed visa shall not exceed 1 year from the lastentry into China.

Important Notes
(I) Applicants are required to be interviewed.Those who are under the age of 16, over the age of60, or suffer mobillity issues due to illness or otherreasons, or have a good record of previousstay/residence in China may have others file anapplication on their behalf. However, if the exit andentry administration authority requires aninterview, the applicant must attend it in person.
(II) The extension of visa is valid for the latestentry only and does not affect the number ofentries and validity period of the original visa, Thecumulative extended period of stay shall notexceed the duration of stay specified in the originalvisa. Upon visa renewal, the original visa becomesinyalid.
(III) Supporting documents provided by foreignnationals in languages other than Chinese forapplying for visa/stay permit/residence permitmust be accompanied by a Chinese translationfrom a qualified translation company in China
(IV) First-time applicants in China under theage of 18 who are foreign nationals of Chineseoriqin or overseas Chinese are also required tosubmit their birth certificate, parents' passports,and proofof residence abroad.
(V) Individuals who have not canceled theirChinese household registration must do so beforefiling an application.

This notification shall be interpreted by the Exiand Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau.
