Nov 26, 2025

Xinjiang

The visit to China and its Xinjiang was the first one for Richard Koon, Speaker of the 55th House of Representatives of the Republic of Liberia, who attended the 2025 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges. He said that he had heard about China and Xinjiang before. When he came to Kashi Prefecture of China's Xinjiang in person and saw that the city had transformed from an ancient city into a modern metropolis, he was deeply impressed, saying that China is committed to working for the well-being of its people and that he hopes to bring China's successful experience back to Liberia.

Koon said that Xinjiang has made remarkable achievements in infrastructure construction, talent cultivation, technological development, and economy, adding that Africa can learn from Xinjiang's development path. He looks forward to visiting Xinjiang more in the future and conducting more comprehensive and in-depth research and study. He said that his country should take Xinjiang as an example and learn from its development experience. "I hope to participate in the forum again next year and gain a deeper understanding of Xinjiang," he said.
