On April 22, the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, awarded "International Trade AI Application" vocational skills certificates to 18 foreign youths. These are reportedly the first such specialized vocational certificates issued to foreign talents in China.A day earlier, 32 international students participated in a hands-on training and examination session at Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College. Each candidate was assigned a small product typical of Yiwu, a city known globally for its vibrant small commodities market. In just 40 minutes, they were required to complete a three-part task: using an AI digital avatar, generating an AI product poster, and creating a promotional video from images—demonstrating their ability to market the item through AI-powered tools.Previously, foreign nationals seeking employment in China were required to have at least two years of work experience. Now, with this new certification, foreign talents can apply directly to five companies on Yiwu’s first whitelist for international youth employment, bypassing the previous experience requirement.
