Xiamen opens new BRI shipping route

Dec 20, 2025

Xiamen

The maiden voyage vessel of the new Belt and Road route VTX7 docked smoothly at the Haitian Terminal of Xiamen Port in Southeast China's Fujian Province on the morning of December 17th.

As a frontier hub supporting the development of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Haitian Terminal has added an efficient and convenient international trade route with this new service. This marks a new step forward for Xiamen Port in deepening connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative and expanding its shipping network in Southeast Asia.

The VTX7 route primarily transports characteristic agricultural products such as cassava starch, dried cassava, rice, and mangoes from Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, covering major ports like Sihanoukville in Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh.

The launch of this route has reduced the direct shipping time from Cambodia to Xiamen from the original 12 days to just six days. It has now become the fastest direct shipping route from Xiamen Port to Cambodia and Viet Nam, establishing a new "maritime expressway" for high-quality agricultural products from Southeast Asia to enter the Chinese market.
