Instructions on Accommodation Registration for Overseas Visitors

Legal Basis

In accordance with Article 39 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, hotels in China that provide accommodation for foreigners must complete accommodation registration for such overseas visitors as required by the security control regulations for the hotel sector and submit thegforeigners' accommodation registration information to the local public security organs in the places where the hotels are located. For foreigners who reside or stay in accommodations other than hotels, they or the persons who accommodate them shall, within 24 hours after the overseas visitors' check-in, complete the registration procedures with the local public security organs.

Registration Process
(I) For overseas visitors staying in hotels, the hotels shall complete the accommodation registration. For those staying at accommodations other than hotels, they or the persons who accommodate them shall, within 24 hours after the overseas visitors' check-in, complete the registration procedures with the local public security organs.
(II) Overseas visitors who obtain new entry-exit documents, apply for new visas or residence permits, or change their residential address must update their accommodation registration information promptly at the local public security organs.

Required Materials
(I) Overseas visitors shall provide their original valid identification documents such as passports or permanent residence permits for foreigners.
(II) If individuals or entities providing accommodations for overseas visitors need to get accommodation registration procedures completed by designated persons on their behalf, valid identification documents of such persons or certificates issued by their employers are also required.
(III) For overseas visitors staying at properties purchased by them, property ownership certificates must be provided. For overseas visitors staying at properties rented by them, rental contracts must be submitted. For overseas visitors staying at properties of others as guests, identification documents of owners or actual tenants, where appropriate, of the properties and related property certificates shall be provided.

This notification shall be interpreted by the Exitand Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau.
