Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art will commence its trial operations from January 17 to March 8. During this period, the museum will partially open select spaces, featuring two preview exhibitions: BIG: Materialism and The Director's Room: Cai Chusheng. The museum is scheduled to fully open to the public by the end of June 2026.
Designed by Danish architect firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), the museum is located in the CBD of Suzhou Industrial Park's east lake area, adjacent to popular landmarks like the Suzhou Eye Ferris Wheel and the Flying sculpture.
Nine buildings are connected by ribbon-like corridors, with multifunctional spaces for exhibitions, public education, theaters, and commerce. This design links urban and waterfront spaces, blending public art with high-end commercial spaces.
