Family Members

Family members shall include spouses, parents, spouse's parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, and children's spouses.


Proof of Family Relationship

Proof of family relationship shall include marriage certificates, birth certificates, paternity test reports, adoption certificates. authentication certificates. notarization certificates, or permanent residence registration documents; marital, birth, or kinship certificates issued by foreign embassies or consulates in China; certificates of family relationship from personnel departments of national agencies. state-owned enterprises, or public institutions when the applicants or their family members are employed.
Proofs provided by foreign competent authorities or notarization service providers shall be authenticated by Chinese embassies or consulates in foreign countries (no authentication is required if APOSTILLE is issued by a member state of the Hague Conventions). If it is impossible for the applicant to complete the authentication procedures in his/her home country for objective reasons, the applicant may provide the certificate issued by the embassy or consulate of said country in China.


Identification Documents of Persons to be Visited
Such documents shall include the permanent residence registration certificate, resident identification card, Chinese passport and proof of overseas residency (in case of overseas Chinese), residence permits and mainland travel permits for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents, and permanent residence permits for foreigners.


Proof of Residency
Proof of residency shall include permanent residence registration certificates, residence permits, residence permits for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents, permanent residence permits of foreigners, proofs of residence and social security contributions for more than six months, proofs of work or study, property rental contracts, property ownership certificates, utility bills,or medical records.


Letter for Kinship
The person to be visited shall provide a guarantee letter explaining the kinship between him/her and the applicant and undertaking that the foreign visitor' s living expenses and costs during his/her stay in China will be secured and Chinese laws and regulations will be complied with during his/her stay (if the person to be visited is a minor under 18, the applicant shall provide the guarantee on his/her own).


Medical Check
Those who are over 18 and apply for residence permits for the first time must submit a health certificate issued by the entry-exit inspection and quarantine authority (e.g, Hubei International Travel Healthcare Center) and valid for six months. Applicants who apply for extension or renewal of residence permits within said valid period, and those who submit application within 90 days from the start date of the valid period of the former residence permit are not required to provide the health certificate.

Work Permit Certificates
The applicant may submit any of the following four types of work permit certificates:
1.Work Permit for Foreigners issued by the competent authority for foreign experts.
2.Administrative Permit Decision.
3.Notice of Work Permit for Foreigners (for those who have worked in China for over 90 days) and other work permit certificates;
4.Approval for performance,related letters and name lists from culture or sports authorities, in case of applicants participating in cultural or sports events.


Identification Documents of Foreign Nationals with Chinese Origin
1. If the applicant once held Chinese nationality, he/or she shall provide any of the following documents: former Chinese identification card, household register, Chinese passport, Chinese travel document, Chinese entry-exit pass, and certificate of renunciation of Chinese nationality, etc.
2. If the applicant was born of foreign nationals with Chinese origin, related materials like the certificate of Chinese nationality of the parent (or parents) and the birth certificate of the applicant shall be provided.
3.If the applicant was born of Chinese citizens, related materials like the identification document of his/her parent(or parents)and the birth certificate of the applicant shall be provided.


Legal Responsibilities:
1. The foreigner holding a residence permit must get any change in the registered information on the residence permit updated by the competent authorities within ten days from the date of the change.(Article 33 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China)
2.The exit and entry administration authorities may verify the purpose specified in the application through interviews, telephone calls, on-site investigations,and other methods.The applicant and the entity or individual issuing the invitation letter,certificate, and other documents must be cooperative.(Article20 of the Requlations of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners)
3.lf any foreianer employed in China has left his/her job, changed his/her working place, violated exit and entry administration regulations, or has died or gone missing, his/her employer must report such facts to the exit and entry administration authorities in a timely manner. (Article 26 of the Requlations of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners)
                   
This notification shall be interpreted by the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau.
