Suzhou has maintained a magnet for foreign investment. The city has attracted a slew of foreign investment projects recently. Let's take a look.
Armstrong
Armstrong (Suzhou) Precision Components Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Singapore-headquartered Armstrong Industrial Corporation, officially commenced operations in the Suxiang Cooperation Zone on May 20. The company's new factory is located in the Plainvim International (Xiangcheng) Industrial Park, covering approximately 6,000 square meters. Equipped with multiple production lines, the project is projected to achieve an annual output value of around 120 million yuan after it is put into operation.
Roche Diagnostics
The groundbreaking ceremony of Roche Diagnostics Asia Manufacturing and R&D Site Expansion project was held in SIP recently. With a total planned area of 108 mu (approximately 7.2 hectares), the project marks Roche Diagnostics' largest single investment in China to date.
The project will establish an Asia-Pacific production and R&D base for reagents and diagnostic equipment, introducing new products including diagnostic reagents and medical devices. It is expected to be completed in 2027 and officially commence operations in 2028.
Once operational, Roche Diagnostics (Suzhou) will produce over 400 types of reagents and instruments, with an estimated annual output value reaching one billion yuan. The cumulative investment in the project will amount to one billion Swiss francs.
Aldi
The global discount supermarket chain ALDI opened its first Kunshan store recently, marking its third outlet in Jiangsu Province. From a small German grocery store, ALDI has grown into a retail giant over the past 100 years, with a presence across four continents and more than 13,000 stores worldwide.
BERICAP
The BERICAP Kunshan Groundbreaking Ceremony event was held in the Kunshan Economic & Technical Development Zone (KETD) recently. With an investment of 390 million yuan, the project marks BERICAP's third industrial project in China. BERICAP Kunshan will be engaged in the R&D, production, and sales of premium bottle caps. Upon completion, it will become the group's most modernized and intelligent factory, with an estimated annual output value of approximately 480 million yuan after reaching full capacity.
HA-BE
The new factory relocation ceremony of HA-BE, a 77-year-old German enterprise, was held in Taicang High-tech Zone recently. With a total investment of approximately $10 million, the factory specializes in the development and production of precision metal components, mechanical parts, and various accessories for electromechanical control systems. Upon reaching full capacity, the project will have a newly increased output value of 100 million yuan.
SWEP
The SWEP China Center of Excellence, a subsidiary of Dover Corporation, opened in Xiangcheng District recently. Spanning approximately 14,000 square meters, the Center boasts an office complex, a brand exhibition center, and production workshops. During its pilot run in 2024, the Suzhou factory achieved an annual output value of 380 million yuan.
