Nanjing Institute of Industry Technology was originally named the Zhonghua Vocational School created by Mr. Huang Yanpei in 1918, the first vocational school entitled “vocation” in China. During the hundreds of years in vocational education, it cultivated three academicians, named Zou Shichang, Gu Xinyi and Wang Shiji, as well as over 100,000 construction and management talents including Zhang Wentian, Hua Luogeng, Zou Taofen, Gu Zhun, Qin Yi, Jiang Zhujun and other outstanding alumni.
The school is adjacent to Zhongshan Scenic spot in Nanjing. It has three campuses, named Xianlin, Zhongshan, and Tiantang. Occupying an area of over 1,361 acres, it has an area of structure up to 46,500 square meters. It now accommodates 14,000 full-time students, including almost 1,000 undergraduates, over 400 overseas students, and over 84 faculty members. The school is set up with 10 colleges, 3 departments, and 1 center, 17 specialized groups and 47 specialties, mainly targeting advanced manufacturing, modern services and strategic emerging industries such as new energy and internet of things in Nanjing, other parts within Jiangsu and Yangtze River Delta Region.
