For international visitors (including travelers from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other countries) staying at hotels in Hangzhou, there’s a brand-new, thoughtful initiative — the “Tap to Check In” service, officially launched on August 11 to make tourism in the city even more convenient.

How does“Tap to Check In”work?

The key is to obtain the Hangzhou PASS (International Version) on Alipay — your digital PASS  for navigating Hangzhou. By granting the hotel access to this code, you eliminate the need for staff to manually enter your details. They’ll receive your information instantly online, making check-in faster and reducing the risk of typos or other errors.

1. Get prepared: Before arriving at the hotel, make sure you’ve downloaded Alipay app and obtained Hangzhou PASS. Enabled your phone’s NFC function and gently tap your phone against the hotel’s NFC sensing card, or scan the hotel’s provided QR code, and you’ll be redirected to your Hangzhou PASS personal information page.

2. Submit information: Check that your name, passport number, nationality, and other details are correct, then tap once to authorize submission.

3. Show your ID: As required for foreign guest registration, present your valid identification to the front desk. After verification, the staff will assign your room, completing the check-in.

The whole process takes less than a minute, saving you from filling out paper forms and letting you “tap and go” with ease.
