Panda Lantern Festival to Welcome Visitors at Dong’an Lake

Jan 20, 2026

Chengdu  2026.02.01

The 55th Chengdu International Panda Lantern Festival will welcome visitors in early February 2026 at Xifeng Island, Dong’an Lake, Longquanyi District, Chengdu.

The Panda Lantern Festival started as Chengdu Festival in 1962. As the longest-running city-level lantern festival in China, it holds a special place in the Chinese New Year memories of generations.

Themed “Sichuan Lanterns Illuminate the World—Dong’an Lake Wonderland”, this year’s festival aims to explore and innovatively reinvigorate the elements and significance of various cultures, including giant pandas, Shudao (“roads of the Shu Kingdom”), the Three Kingdoms, poems, post-horses, and Hakka heritage. Stretching across over 330 mu of Xifeng Island, the festival will feature a dazzling display of lanterns across five zones and a central area—A New Chapter in Sichuan Lanterns, Hussle and Bussle of the Brocade City, Galloping Horses along Shudao, Fragrant Peach Blossoms of Ancient Post Stations, A Prosperous and Happy New Year, and The Summit of Xifeng.

With a focus on “cultural immersion”, the festival will showcase over 40 sets of colored lanterns, including four ultra-large installations exceeding 12 meters in height. Through mechanically driven devices, along with audio, lighting, and power systems, they promise to create a remarkable auditory and visual spectacle for visitors.

In addition to traditional colored lanterns, the festival innovatively creates new immersive experiences that are “empowered by IPs, integrated with scenarios, and driven by vitality”. As the strategic partner of the festival, POP MART, a trend culture and entertainment group, will infuse the over-60-year-old Panda Lantern Festival with fresh energy through its unique trend-driven DNA and creative expression. Meanwhile, two classic IPs—The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven and Panda’s Department Store—licensed by Shanghai Film Infinity, an entity under Shanghai Film Group, will be featured at the festival.

The latest updates, detailed schedules, and ticketing information for the festival will be available on the WeChat Official Account of the 55th Chengdu International Panda Lantern Festival and other relevant media platforms.
