German supermarket chain ALDI opened its new store at Shimao PlazaALDI奥乐齐(姑苏世茂生活广场店) on July 19. With this new one, Suzhou now boasts four ALDI stores. The other three are located at the Fangzhou Neighborhood Center in Suzhou Industrial ParkALDI奥乐齐(苏州方洲邻里中心店), the Emerald City in Suzhou New DistrictALDI奥乐齐超市(绿宝广场店), and the Golden Eagle International Shopping Center in Kunshan

Founded in 1913, ALDI is a globally renowned discount supermarket chain. On the opening day, long queues formed at the store entrance early in the morning, creating a lively and bustling scene. Inside the store, shelves are neatly stocked with a wide range of products, including fresh and plump fruits and vegetables in the produce section, well-marbled meat in the fresh food section, and baked goods with a faint aroma wafting from the bakery section. All these irresistible offerings drew eager crowds of shoppers.

As one of the key consumption hubs in the Yangtze River Delta region, Suzhou has attracted multiple international retail giants in recent years, such as Sam's Club and Costco. Notably, the Zhangjiagang Sam's Club project is scheduled to open by the end of October. Its main structure has been completed currently, with mechanical and electrical installations almost finished. The exterior curtain walls, interior decoration, outdoor facilities, and landscaping are under construction.

Beyond that, a newly upgraded Yonghui Supermarket永辉超市(苏州高铁吾悦广场店) will reopen its doors to consumers at the Wuyue Plaza in Xiangcheng district in September. It is the first of its kind that follows the model of Pangdonglai, a well-known commercial retail enterprise in China, in the district.
