Chengdu to Add Two New Railway Stations

Two new railway stations are currently under construction in Chengdu.

Tianfu Railway Station

is expected to be completed by 2026.

Jianzhou Railway Station

is expected to be completed by 2027.

Construction Progress

Currently, approximately 65% of the glass curtain wall installation has been completed. The roofing work is 92% finished and is expected to be completed by the end of April. The glass curtain walls for parts of the ellipsoidal steel lattice structures at the entrances on the east, west, and south sides, as well as on the north and south flanks, are expected to be installed by June. The construction of the main structural framing in public areas is 90% complete, mechanical and electrical installation has reached 75%, and interior decoration in non-public areas is about to begin on a full scale.

Construction Plan

The station covers a total floor area of 612,000 square meters, including a station building of 120,200 square meters. Featuring 12 platforms and 22 railway tracks, the station is positioned as one of the main passenger stations in Chengdu’s railway hub system of “four main and three supporting stations” and stands as Sichuan’s first railway station designed with the integrated TOD concept.

According to the construction plan, the southern section of Tianfu Railway Station will be completed and put into operation first this year. The northern part remains part of the long-term development plan.

Project Role

Tianfu Railway Station will serve passengers from multiple railway lines, including Zigong-Yibin High-Speed Railway and Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway. Together, they will be woven into a high-speed railway network that reaches across China and enables fast travel to major cities, such as Beijing, Guangzhou, and Kunming.

Jianzhou Railway Station

Construction Progress

To ensure simultaneous opening with the middle line of Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway in 2027, the Integrated Project of Jianzhou Railway Station Comprehensive Transportation Hub along the Middle Line of Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway (Phase I) is currently under intensive construction. Recently, construction teams have been accelerating the setup of falsework, the bundling of rebar, and the placement of formwork for basements on both the eastern and western sides of the project.

Construction Plan

The Integrated Project of Jianzhou Railway Station Comprehensive Transportation Hub (Phase I), with a total floor area of approximately 82,000 square meters, comprises a railway station building and a ground transportation center (GTC) for transfers. Jianzhou Railway Station is the only newly built station along the middle line of Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway within Chengdu’s jurisdiction. Upon completion, it will enable seamless transfers between high-speed railway, metro, buses, and other means of transportation. 

Project Role

The project will work in tandem with Chengdu Tianfu International Airport as dual hubs to enable air and railway connections. It will play a significant role in Chengdu’s integration into the national railway network and the development of Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone.
