A delegation led by Yadira Gómez, Minister of Tourism of Honduras, visited Nanjing from March 27th to 28th. At the Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Museum, delegates delved into China’s traditional silk-weaving techniques and traced the footsteps of Cao Xueqin, the literary giant of the Qing Dynasty, marveling at the exquisite craftsmanship of Yunjin brocade weaving.

Standing on the best viewing point of the city wall built in the Ming Dynastay, delegates were able to take in the majestic blend of mountains, waters, urban landscapes, and forests. They expressed deep admiration for Nanjing’s rich historical culture and harmonious integration of natural and humanistic scenery.

During a visit to Nanjing Tuniu Technology Co., Ltd., the delegation toured the company’s exhibition hall and live-streaming base, gaining insights into Tuniu’s digital-integrated business model and its multi-channel marketing strengths through new media. The representatives from Nanjing Foreign Affairs Office, Nanjing Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and Tuniu held a sit-down discussion with the delegation, exchanging ideas and suggestions on how to enhance cooperation between Nanjing and Honduras in tourism, culture, trade, and sister-city relationship. Minister Yadira Gómez noted that Honduras, with its profound historical and cultural heritage, sees broad potential for collaboration with Nanjing in tourism promotion, cultural heritage preservation, manufacturing, and other fields, and expressed hopes to deepen bilateral exchanges. Representative from Nanjing Foreign Affairs Office emphasized the commitment to leveraging Minister Gómez’s visit as an opportunity to advance pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation between Nanjing and Honduras, particularly with its capital city, Tegucigalpa.

China and Honduras established diplomatic relations on March 26th, 2023. Nanjing and Tegucigalpa signed a Letter of Intent to establish sister city relationship on March 19th, 2024.
