Multi-purpose Metro Service Points Come into Operation

The first batch of service points along Metro lines in Chengdu, at the stations of Incubation Park, South Railway Station, Century City and Chengdu Dong Railway Station, have been put into operation recently. The service points are aimed to be made platforms for colorful cultural and art activities under the theme of “public services, talent shows and humanity cares”, to serve as showcases of the city’s civilization development featuring friendliness and positive attitude towards life in order to help visitors to Chengdu better know about the city and local people’s life.

Locations of the service points are at the hub stations and key transfer stations along the Metro lines. The service points will be made the new, multi-purpose scenarios of public services that open all the time corresponding the service time of metro operation all the year round. As open spaces for public sharing and participation, these points provide more than 20 services including reading, rest, traffic consultancy, lectures, tour guidance, volunteering and business soliciting for domestic and overseas visitors to the city.

At the points there are functional sections equipped with desks and projectors to provide convenience for people to process exigent office work, libraries and reading rooms for people, especially office workers and students, to read and learn in quiet spaces. Sewing-tool packets and hot water are provided at the points for passengers in need.

Chengdu Rail Transport is planning to add professional training sessions, psychological consultancy, law consultancy and cultural exhibitions to the service spectrum at the points, a move to create a brand-new rail-transport oriented, people-friendly life scenario that helps shape the “15-minute living spheres” shared by all residents in urban Chengdu.
