Metro Line 30 Phase 1 to Open within the Year

Nov 18, 2025

Chengdu

Recently,

Chengdu Rail Transit Line 30 Phase 1

has been unveiled,

marking the countdown

to its official opening for the public.

Line 30 Phase 1 stretches approximately 27.76 kilometers from the East of Terminal 2 of Shuangliu International Airport Station in the west to Longquan Station in the east, passing through Shuangliu District, Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, Jinjiang District, and Longquanyi District. The line includes 24 stations, all located underground. Currently, the line has started unmanned trial operation and is steadily advancing system testing as it moves toward the goal of opening for the public within the year.

Connecting the east and west of the city, the Line 30 Phase 1 project will significantly facilitate travel between Longquanyi District, Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, and Shuangliu District upon its official launch. As it intersects with Lines 2, 5, 6, 8, 13, and 19, the line will enhance travel convenience for residents through seamless transfers. The trains on Line 30 adopt a modern and minimalist exterior design integrated with the elements of the ancient Shu culture. Inspired by Chengdu’s transformative progress from an ancient city to a transportation hub, the design reflects the appeal of technology and a futuristic sense.

It is worth mentioning that the Line 30 Phase 1 project is China’s first metro line to adopt “full automation for regular operations with a train-to-train communication system”. The trains are equipped with autonomous computing, planning, and decision-making capabilities, along with “smart eyes” that enable the real-time detection of obstacles ahead, to ensure safety for fully automated operations. The project uses Type B trains, each consisting of six coaches, and operates at the highest Grade of Automation (GOA4), with a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
