Beijing  2026.02.11 - 2026.02.14

From February 11 to 14, Spain's Granada Flamenco Ballet (Ballet Flamenco de Granada), one of the world's top three flamenco companies, will take the stage at the National Centre for the Performing Arts to present two world-renowned classics: The Phantom of the Opera and Carmen.

The Phantom of the Operais adapted from the classic novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra ( The Phantom of the Opera ) by French detective novelist Gaston Leroux. This dance drama employs the passionate, expressive, and highly evocative dance and music of Spanish flamenco to convey the powerful yet poignant emotions in The Phantom of the Opera , offering a distinctive interpretation of the Phantom's story.

Carmen is derived from a novella of the same name by French literary giant Prosper Mérimée, and was transformed into an enduring operatic masterpiece by the composer Georges Bizet. Of all interpretations, the version featuring flamenco, which originated from Spain's Andalusia, is generally considered the most authentic and classic, capturing the original spirit best.

Flamenco is one of Spain's most iconic art forms, blending song, music, and dance in a rich tapestry. It perfectly fuses dance steps, castanets, singing, and guitar performances.

The Granada Flamenco Ballet is often hailed as the "dream team" of Spanish flamenco, internationally acclaimed for its exceptional skills and rich artistic heritage. The company's performances are filled with rhythm, emotion, energy, and beauty, offering audiences an immersive experience of the artistic charm of flamenco.
