Shanghai Pudong International Airport has introduced round-the-clock services for international travelers, marking a significant enhancement in services aimed at solidifying Shanghai's position as a premier aviation hub. Launched on Tuesday, these services include customs, border inspection, and security checks, along with the goal of attracting more global visitors.
Shanghai Airport Group has rolled out eight new services to enhance the airport's appeal. Among these are rest cabins and shower facilities for transfer passengers, as well as late-night rest lounges. The airport is also targeting a reduction in transit times, aiming for 75 minutes for domestic flight transitions and 90 minutes for international transfers between terminals.
To cater to the diverse needs of transfer passengers, the airport is set to debut the first batch of rest cabins and 11 shower rooms, with plans for an in-airport capsule hotel in the works. All three airport terminals will feature overnight rest areas equipped with sofas and deck chairs for passengers needing to stay overnight. Additionally, these areas will offer round-the-clock services for device charging, convenience stores, vending machines, and catering.
Passengers facing flight delays will receive coupons, and online lost and found services will be accessible through the airport's WeChat mini program. The airport has also upgraded its pet-friendly services, now including a dedicated check-in counter, security check, rest areas, and boarding facilities to ensure pet owners enjoy a more comfortable travel experience.
An official from Shanghai Airport Group stated to Jiefang Daily, "The goal is to provide passengers with more comfortable, convenient and considerate services," emphasizing the airport's commitment to becoming the top choice for global passenger transit and making Shanghai the preferred entry point for inbound travelers to China.
