Orientation for intl teachers, students opens in Suzhou

At the start of the new semester in September, the two-week "Orientation for International Teachers and Students" has started at the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) One-stop Service Centre for Expats.

Recently, over a thousand international teachers and students have arrived in Suzhou. In response, the SIP One-stop Service Centre for Expats has launched a "One-Stop Orientation Week" initiative, moving service windows forward and transforming the administrative hall into a "reception lounge" with six themed experience zones in a 200-square-meter space.

On the right side of the entrance, the Instant Photo Booth features a photo wall with silhouettes of SIP's landmarks and is equipped with instant-print Polaroid cameras. Here, international teachers and students can capture and take home memorable snapshots of their first moments in Suzhou.

The Information Station provides a one-stop guidebook for life in SIP. International teachers and students can access categorized, scenario-based Chinese and English materials tailored to their needs. The resources cover a wide range of topics, such as center services and living guides (finance, healthcare, transportation, daily life, cultural tourism, etc.), helping newcomers quickly familiarize themselves with every aspect of life in SIP.

The Time Mailbox area offers blank postcards for international students to write down their expectations with the theme of "Mail to Future: Dear Future Me." They can share goals, hopes, or blessings for their upcoming life in SIP in any language. After writing, they can drop the postcards into the on-site Time Mailbox. The center will mail them back to the provided addresses a year later, preserving these cherished memories.

Additionally, the center provides coffee, an exhibition on intangible cultural heritage, and bilingual greetings, delivering all-around warm services to international teachers and students.

Mary from the UK will begin her second year at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). She eagerly experienced the instant photo booth after completing all enrollment procedures. She felt that the facilities here are so well-equipped, and everything feels incredibly convenient. "This event is particularly fun, with great visual effects too!" she noted. Meanwhile, a student from Indonesia was impressed by SIP's vibrant educational atmosphere, expressing his hope to study hard and make more friends here.
