China's 1st cross-province instant tax refund service in Suzhou

China's first cross-provincal immediate tax refund service was completed in Gusu District of Suzhou on May 3.

Italian visitor Alessio Travani began his shopping spree of the "China Travel" at Matro Shopping Mall in Gusu District. Traditional Chinese products particularly caught his eye. Before leaving the city on May 5, he selected two Suzhou silk scarves as gifts for his family, wishing to make them feel the elegance and beauty of Suzhou. 

Thanks to the instant tax refund service, Alessio received his VAT rebates within five minutes on-site, experiencing the convenience of shopping in Suzhou. He mentioned that previously having to go to the airport for tax refunds was inconvenient, but now it can be done directly at the mall.

Alessio told reporters that he was very fond of Suzhou's environment and atmosphere. In his eyes, Suzhou is a truly marvelous city with its beautiful classical gardens and abundant shopping centers, making it an ideal place to live.

The Departure Tax Refund is a policy in China that refunds VAT to foreign travelers who purchase tax-refundable items from tax-free stores when they leave the departure port of China. China has implemented this policy nationwide since 2015. As of now, Suzhou boasts 37 departure tax refund stores, among which Matro Shopping Mall and Suzhou People's Shopping Mall offer the "instant tax refund" service.
