Marked by the lighting of a "tree of symbiosis" on site, the XMFTZ Global Innovation Center for Sustainable Development was officially launched in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province, on March 26th. At the same time, the UN One Planet Network Sustainable Business Innovation Lab was established, signaling a new step forward for the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone in the field of sustainable development.

The launch ceremony brought together representatives from authoritative industry institutions, international organizations, resident institutions of the center, and enterprises in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) service ecosystem.
It aimed to advance the new development philosophy, put ESG principles into practice, build an international and professional platform, and pool global wisdom to promote innovative cooperation in sustainable development.

The establishment and positioning of the center are grounded in the release of the Xiamen ESG Development Action Plan (2025-27) in April 2025. This sets a clear goal of "building a nationally leading ESG city" and designates the Xiamen FTZ as a pilot demonstration zone for ESG development.

On the same day, the "Xiamen ESG plus Green Development Vitality Index" was pre-released, establishing a dynamic evaluation system for regional green development.
The Administration of Xiamen FTZ also unveiled its first batch of scenario opportunity lists, featuring 25 key application scenarios across 11 core areas in four major directions: green and low-carbon development, digital intelligence, open collaboration, and service innovation.
The Sustainable Service Alliance, International ESG Service Hub, and ESG Talent Development Partner were launched concurrently. Meanwhile, the Memorandum of Cooperation with the British Standards Institution (BSI) was signed, alongside the establishment of the Sustainable Development Green Industry Fund, forming a multi-dimensional framework driven by "index guidance, scenario activation, and collaborative ecosystem building".
